Target has released a teaser video for its new collaboration with Jason Wu…beyond excited to see what the designer and the mega-retailer have in store! Wu’s limited-edition collection will hit stores February 12.

London and Milan

For the most part, I found London and Milan Fashion Week uninspiring, especially when compared with New York’s dazzling offerings. I did, however, adore the 1920s drop-waist silhouettes at Giles and Gucci. The decade made a cameo appearance alongside Fall’s 40s and 70s themes, and is a prominent inspiration for Spring. I also loved the pretty pastels – primarily pale yellow and Robin’s Egg blue - popping up at Prada, Versace, Mulberry and Christopher Kane.

New York Fashion Week: The Highlights

For Spring, fashion is looking bright, youthful and fun following a rather mature, somber Fall. The colors of the season? Bright white, bubblegum pink and acid green.

Jason Wu injected that poppy color scheme with ladylike sophistication, and added playful touches like black patent belts and over-the-top peplums. Even the usually ultra-sophisticated Oscar De La Renta skewed younger and hipper, accenting his de riguer tweed suits with pops of color and cute ankle socks. The Row and Theysken’s Theory utilized stark white to beautiful effect, Phillip Lim and Proenza Schouler wowed with futuristic fabrics, and Rodarte stood out from the crowd with brilliant Van Gogh-inspired prints. FNO at Christian Louboutin

What a charming event! Christian Louboutin’s lavish Robertson Boulevard FNO window featured elaborate wigs adorned by the designer’s glittery pumps, and the party itself offered plentiful cocktails, hors d’oevres, and custom Louboutin beauty supplies. While I resisted the temptation to get my hair and makeup done, I’m sure many of the ladies in attendance had a blast at the party’s pop-up salon and eyelash bar, courtesy of Frederic Fekkai and Makeup Forever.

For my birthday this year, my boyfriend gifted me with the best present a girl could ask for – a much-needed vacation. It was a nice change of pace to spend time in a city so rich with history and culture (no offense, LA). Some of the sights:

Alternative Apparel + Alison Sudol Launch Event

For Fall 2011, Alternative Apparel is launching a capsule collection of nature-themed, ultra-soft graphic tees with musician Alison Sudol of “A Fine Frenzy.”

I had the pleasure of attending the launch event Saturday at Alternative’s Venice outpost. The store – formerly a home – has been updated since its Spring 2011 opening, with vintage display fixtures, an accessories wall, and even a few home goods.

I absolutely love the store’s cute, cottage-inspired space. How cute is AA’s famous garden patio?

Made In LA: Verlain

Who says everyday shoes can’t be extravagant? L.A. designer Mark Lu challenges that notion with Verlain, a line of ultra-luxurious oxfords and loafers that are anything but basic. Featuring sumptuous materials and fresh, vibrant colors, the collection is a perfect fit for the woman who prizes traditional shapes and easy comfort, but still wants to stand out from the fashion crowd.

This season’s shoes feature exotic leathers such as water snake, crocodile, lamb, calf and suede, in a rich variety of neons, neutrals and animal prints. Up next? An even more unusual slate including ostrich and hippopotamus. And while the materials come from a range of far-off locales, the shoes themselves are all designed and manufactured here in Los Angeles.
